Baker Butte Journal 2010
Nestled among the ponderosa pines along the Mogollon Rim sits Baker Butte Lookout. The Coconino National Forest is one of the most active forests for both human- and wildland-caused fires in Arizona, and that's the way Shirley Payne likes it! She has been a lookout for 29 years and it's a job she loves and returns to with great anticipation
In 2010 she kept a journal of her summer watching for forest fires. With no television or internet access there's not much to do besides read, quilt, and cook. And boy does Shirley ever cook! Shirley has used her evenings to develop and refine recipes, 99 which are included in the book.
The Baker Butte Journal Plus Some Pretty Good Recipes can be ordered by PayPal or by check using a pdf order form. Shirley has only two days a week during the summer fire season in which she can respond to orders for her book. If you order a book from April through October, please be advised that it may take a little while for your book to be shipped.
